Today, Monday, September 28, 2020, Prof. Ashraf Abdel Basset, President of Mansoura University, participated in the launch of the first virtual forum for employment for universities UCCD 2020, which was opened by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research The opening was also attended by Dr. Muhammad Attia Al-Bayoumi - Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Atwa, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, Dr. Muhammad Abdel-Azim, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and the officials of the university centers for professional development at the university. In the presence of AUC President Francis Ricciardone, AUC Chancellor Dr. Ashraf Hatem, USAID Director Leslie Reid, and the heads of 10 Egyptian public universities. The National Bank of Egypt also participated as the main partner with more than 40 companies in providing job and training opportunities in the event hosted by the University Centers for Career Development. The University Centers for Career Development hosts the Forum, a project funded by the US Agency for International Development and implemented by the American University in Cairo in 10 universities: Alexandria, Ain Shams, Aswan, Beni Suef, Mansoura, Menoufia, Minya, Sadat, Sohag, and Zagazig. The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, stressed the importance of a university degree and that it alone is no longer sufficient, and that the labor market gives priority to those with skills, and accordingly, organizing the Virtual Employment Forum is a great opportunity to raise the capabilities of Egyptian university students and qualify them to compete after graduation, especially in the sectors and modern disciplines. The minister added: "The professional development centers implemented by the American University play an important role in helping students to develop their skills, familiarize them with the needs of the labor market, train them to meet them, and raise the level of graduates, noting that the number of centers reached 15 centers located in 10 public universities and was able to reach a segment of A large number of students, and such events are a unique opportunity for both parties, as they provide an opportunity for the business sector and companies to obtain the best human resources from the distinguished who are able to compete in the labor market, as well as linking education with the industry sector.” Dr. Ashraf Abdel Basset, President of Mansoura University, stated that the university always seeks to build and develop deeper links between the university community and the requirements of the labor market and to strengthen cooperation relations with business owners to create jobs and empower young people.
